Westerville school officials decided Monday night to hold off on changes to the district's transportation policy, meaning that some bus drivers will get to keep their jobs.
The Westerville City Schools District laid off 20 bus drivers, which meant changes to bus stops were set for Jan. 4.
The board listened to the concerns of parents and decided not to implement the reduction service levels at this time. Instead, the board is going to study the impact of the cuts and then make a decision.
The board also heard from parents about putting a levy on the March ballot.
"Over and over I hear the same complaint about the board's supposed irresponsibility in budget management and I don't understand this view. There's a huge difference between living within your means as others have implied that we're not doing and losing 17 percent of your budgeted annual revenue," said Anna Malone, a Westerville parent.
Students and parents wore buttons to the meeting to support keeping the arts in the schools. There was no decision yet on those proposed cuts.
