COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Four people have been recommended to Gov. John Kasich for an upcoming opening on the Ohio commission that regulates utility companies.

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio Nominating Council on Thursday announced that it was recommending the commissioner who currently holds the seat, Paul Centolella, of Worthington; Republican state Rep. Lynn Slaby of Copley; commission staff member Beth Trombold of Columbus; and former Democratic state Rep. Michael Verich of Warren.

The five-year appointment to the commission starts in April.

Kasich has 30 days to make a selection or ask the council for alternate nominees. The appointment would face confirmation in the Senate.
